  • About Guatemala Coffee

Gautemala coffee from the Atitlan region is mainly harvested on the side of the Pacific in a region of three volcanic mountains with a high precipitation.  Most regional producers use water from the lake for wet processing and instead of chemicals, organic matter is often used as a fertilizer.  The high altitude (4,000-5,900 feet) results in a low occurrence of pests and diseases. The humidity in this area is high, hovering around 70-80%.  Drying takes place almost totally in the sun.

Our Guatemala coffee beans are sourced from the Pampojila farm, owned by Alex Herrera, who bought the farm despite the facilities being completely destroyed during the Agatha storm in 2012. He not only restored the farm, but by beginning production again, he also restored jobs for about one hundred local families. He has 250 hectares of Caturra coffee trees planted at an altitude of between 1,470 and 1,720 metres and another 250 hectares kept as a nature reserve.

  • Why drink Arabica coffee

Coffee Arabica is a species of Coffee originally indigenous to the forests of the southwestern highlands of Ethiopia. It is also known as the “coffee shrub of Arabia”, “mountain coffee”, or “arabica coffee”.Arabica is believed to be the first species of coffee to be cultivated, and is by far the dominant cultivar, representing some 75% of global production.

The other 25% is produced with the less acidic, more bitter, and more highly caffeinated Robusta bean.
